(Southern Railway No. 30). Washington-New York.
The Crescent had been completely re-equipped with new streamlined equipment from Pullman-Standard in 1949. In this issue of the Guide there appears a full-page advertisement touting the new Crescent as "The Grand New Train with the Grand Old Name." The new equipment featured the only Master Rooms (with private shower bath and radio) to be found in the South, as well as the "Lookout Lounge" observation cars with a raised-floor seating area and enlarged windows.
