The Texas Eagle was officially launched on August 15, 1948, although MoPac had "previewed" the equipment on its predecessor train the Sunshine Special—i.e., had rushed the equipment into revenue service as soon as it was delivered from the builder rather than wait for a complete trainset to be assembled.

This timetable features a couple of discrepancies between the MoPac and T. & P. versions; probably a case of where the left hand didn't let the right know what was going on. Specifically, T. & P. says that the lounge car continues all the way to El Paso, but according to Missouri Pacific it terminates in Fort Worth. Comparing these entries with the next edition in my collection (March 1949), it appears that MoPac had it right.
