The Union Pacific 1957 Summer Tours series continues with this train, which was used by the deluxe "C" California tour leaving Los Angeles for Yosemite and northern California. The tour brochure warns that only light meal items are available on board the West Coast and that vacationers should plan on an early dinner before boarding. Upon arrival at Fresno early in the morning their sleeping cars would be set out for occupancy until the semi-civilized hour of 6:30 a.m., followed by breakfast in the nearby Hotel Californian. (Eagles fans, note that last "n"!) After breakfast, they would embark on a motor bus tour to Yosemite by way of Mariposa Grove with a stop for lunch at the Big Trees Lodge. In Yosemite Valley they would stay one night at the Ahwahnee Hotel with time for exploring and hiking the next morning before returning to Fresno and their sleeping cars awaiting the arrival of the Owl for the next leg of the tour.
