In August of 1950 the Cascade, Southern Pacific's overnight all-Pullman service between San Francisco and Portland, was upgraded to fully streamlined status with modern all-room sleepers. The train's feature car was the "Cascade Club", an articulated triple-unit diner/lounge car.
