The Ocean Limited had been Canadian National's crack service between Montreal and Halifax since near the turn of the 20th century. Although it did carry coaches during the WWII years, throughout most of the late 1940s and 1950s it reigned supreme as Canada's only all-sleeping car train. Its peak years were probably those between the introduction of the new streamlined equipment from Pullman-Standard in 1954-1955 and the timetable shown here, which is the last one in my collection showing the Ocean Limited as an all-sleeping car train. However, it continued to operate as a premier service into the VIA days and in fact still continues to operate today as the Ocean—the oldest continuously operated named passenger train in North America.
