In 1951 Great Northern upgraded its service between Seattle and Vancouver, British Columbia with two new streamlined trainsets that it dubbed the Streamlined Internationals. With them in service, Great Northern was able to offer three daily trips each way between the two cities, in addition to a coach-only local. While the route is twisty and therefore somewhat slow, it hugs the shoreline of Puget Sound much of the way and the scenery is spectacular...as I can testify following a trip on Amtrak's Cascades in May of 2014. The new equipment featured a Customs room to facilitate inspections and border formalities while en route as well as a café and parlor-observation.

Great Northern published a brochure to tout the features of the new equipment. Read it at Lindsay Korst's Great Northern Railway Page.
Streamliner Memories also has a scan of the brochure, plus some additional information, online.
