By 1954 the Hiawathas had been re-equipped with Super Dome cars from Pullman-Standard and the distinctive Skytop lounge-observation cars, which were products of the Milwaukee's own shops. While the northbound Morning Hiawatha had added stops and consequently stretched out its schedule somewhat, the other editions of the train had trimmed from ten to fifteen minutes off the already screaming pace of the 1938 trains.
