The streamlined all-coach City of New Orleans made its debut in April of 1947. With a hot 16 hour schedule between Chicago and New Orleans which trimmed nearly 9 full hours off the running time of its predecessor the Creole, it was even faster than the flagship Panama Limited of similar vintage.
