The Argonaut was Southern Pacific's secondary train on the Sunset Route. While online references are sketchy, it appears that the train was streamlined with lightweight cars sometime in 1955...probably after this timetable, which still references heavyweight Pullman sleeping cars. As part of Southern Pacific's passenger retrenchment, the train would be cut back to a Houston-New Orleans run in 1958 and discontinued altogether in 1963.
