The Champion had been introduced as an all-coach train to compete with Seaboard's Silver Meteor in December, 1939. By the time of this timetable, a year and a half later, it had grown to include heavyweight sleeping cars and had been split into East and West Coast trains on separate schedules. It had also been renamed the Tamiami Champion. If you're curious as to the origin of the term "Tamiami", it was the name of the heavyweight coach-and-Pullman passenger train which the Champion supplanted on the A.C.L.'s schedule.
