Here you see the Sunset Limited at the top of its form. While it had no dome cars, its other features were all first-rate. Notice two changes from the original August 1950 edition of the train: The "Pride of Texas" coffee shop cars had been rebuilt into 32-seat hamburger grill lounge cars in 1955, and in 1956 a set of 4-bedroom, 4-compartment, 2-drawing-room sleepers had been reassigned from the Golden State to the Sunset Limited. These were pre-World War II, smooth-sided cars which interrupted the Budd-built uniformity of the rest of the train, but they provided some premium sleeping accommodations which the Budd cars had lacked.
